West Hallam Village Pre-School provides care and education for children aged between 2 and 5 years, and helps to prepare your child for the important step to school.
Your child is cared for in a safe, friendly and stimulating environment. We have a qualified and dedicated team of staff and an eager committee.
We offer an enclosed spacious outdoor play area and are very proud to be able to take the children outside during every session for outdoor play and games. We have a variety of outdoor play equipment, including bikes, scooters, cars and much more.
We aim to offer the children every opportunity to access the whole curriculum both indoors and out.

History
West Hallam Village Hall where the Pre-school is based
West Hallam Village Pre-School began as a play group in 1967.
It was started by Pat Gregory and Norma Futers in the rambling old rectory. They got together with some other people with teaching, nursery nurse or nursing qualifications and planned the organisation. They were registered for 18 children and the fees were three shillings and sixpence (17p)!
After 3 years the rectory was going to be demolished and the playgroup was offered the football pavilion. While far from ideal, the pavilion served its purpose.
The playgroup's present home was previously used by the school. After the school moved out, the building became a village hall. The playgroup moved in and increased the number of sessions.
We are now a registered charity, a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and Ofsted regulated. We have 5 qualified members of staff.

The Pre-School’s last inspection was successful and it was reported that:
Children thoroughly enjoy their time in the playgroup and make good progress in all areas of their learning and development.
Staff forge strong links with parents and others involved in children's care, which results in a service that is responsive to children's individual needs.
Arrangements to safeguard all aspects of children's welfare are secure and backed by good organisation.
The staff demonstrate a high commitment to the playgroup and use reflective practice to ensure that they are always making improvements to the service they provide.
