Children will have lunch at Pre-School if they are staying all day or arriving at lunch time for an afternoon session. This applies to every day of the week. This means that they will need to bring their own packed lunch and a drink in a cool bag with a cool block placed inside.
Lunch represents a social time for the children to eat together and it allows them to gain confidence and independence in their eating.
If your child attends Pre-School all day, please include a cool ice pack in their lunch box to keep their lunch cool during the morning, as we are unable to store food in our fridge. Please wrap the cool pack in kitchen foil, so that the rest of their lunch box does not become wet as it melts.
Please do not overfill your child’s lunch box – a small sandwich, a bag of crisps and a piece of fruit or a cereal bar or a biscuit, together with a drink, is fine.

Whilst we do not charge a compulsory fee for the snacks provided, we kindly request a voluntary contribution of £1.00 per week. An additional £1.00 per week is also requested to help cover the cost of consumables such as wipes, sun cream, and tissues, which are used to support children’s health, hygiene, and comfort.
These contributions are itemised on the half-term invoice under ‘Agreed services’ and are intended to enhance the quality of care provided.
For information on getting funding for your childcare visit our funding page.
Payment for sessions is due every half term. You will be issued with an invoice at the beginning of each half term for the full amount due, which will be payable within 14 days of the invoice date. The most secure way of paying your fees is by online banking, all the details you would need can be found at the bottom of the invoices. If this is not possible for you then a cheque made payable to West Hallam Village Preschool is the next most secure way. If your only way of payment is by cash, then please hand this to Samantha and wait for them to write you a receipt. As we do not like to hold too much cash on the premises we need to make sure that it is all accounted for.
Please note that session fees must be paid in full, even if a child is withdrawn early, or if a child is off ill or away on holiday.
We accept employer’s childcare vouchers or the Governments Tax free vouchers as payment for fees. Please see staff for further information.
If you have any problems with payment, please contact a member of staff. They will be happy to help.
We do appreciate that some families may have difficulties and sometimes assistance can be obtained from the Ann Powtrell Foundation of West Hallam.
You will be asked to sign a Fee Payment Agreement to confirm that you agree to the above.
From the term following your child’s 2nd birthday, you may be entitled to 15 hours of Government funding for your child, if you meet the requirements, please see www.beststartinlife.gov.uk to check your eligibility and where you can apply.
You may be eligible for funding from your childs start date, however, you will need to apply for 9-23 month funding, if eligible, on the best start in life website.
From the term following your child's 3rd birthday, your child is entitled to up to 15 hours of free early years education funding per week (Subject to availability). Please note that voucher funding can be split between two different settings.
If you are eligible, you may be entitled to an additional 15 hours funding under the goverment 30 hour funding please see: www.beststartinlife.gov.uk
If you wish to increase or alter your child’s sessions, please speak to a member of staff about availability.
We are unable to save extra sessions until later in the year. Requests for extra sessions or changes will be logged on a waiting list and will be reviewed at the beginning of each half term.
Children will not be able to attend Pre-School on an ad-hoc basis, i.e. on a session they do not normally attend, as this affects the staff to child ratio.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee new starters extra sessions later in the year – they will be placed on the waiting list for extra sessions.
