The standard of education your child receives is very important to us. At the Village Pre-School the children work towards a set of learning goals. These goals have been designed by an independent organisation. (The School’s Curriculum and Assessment Authority). We have to adhere to a curriculum, however, our planning is done in such a way that whilst we meet these goals we promote our ethos oflearning through play. By working with you we aim to make your child’s time with us a happy and fulfilling experience. These areas of education are Personal and Social Development which focuses on learning how to work, play and co-operate with others and mix in a group other than their family. Language and Literacy which focuses on children developing skills in talking and listening and in reading and writing. Mathematics which covers understanding in maths and provides the basics in using numbers. Knowledge and Understanding of the World which involves the children developing an awareness of their environment, other people and features of the world. Physical development which focuses on children developing physical control, mobility, awareness of space and their ability to handle a range of objects both indoor and outdoor. Creative development centres on the child’s imagination and develops their ability to communicate and express their ideas through activities such as music, art and role-play. In every session all of the six learning areas are promoted. The children are observed by theirKeyworkers. Our planning folder is available on the registration desk. Pre-School is a fun time for both parents, children and staff alike and we assure all parents that the care and development of your child is paramount to us. We will ensure you are kept informed about any business and information is also displayed on the Noticeboard. So please, don’t forget to read the Noticeboard which is permanently on display. You will be given a registration form which you will need to complete and return and if you change your address or telephone number, then please notify us. |
